Follow on Google News | Mad Satta will perform at Salem Jazz and Soul Festival/Berklee Summer Series concert, June 8Mad Satta, a Berklee College of Music band fronted by vocalist Joanna Teters, will play the 2nd SJSF/Berklee Summer Series concert of 2013 in Derby Square, Salem, on Saturday, June 8.
Mad Satta, (http://youtu.be/ Founded by Teters and bassist Ben Carr in 2010, Mad Satta has assembled some of the most promising young musicians around New England to produce a powerful, unforgettable performance. Teters’s musical roots are deep in funk, reggae and jazz. She is joined by Carr, keyboardist Kevin Theodore, guitarist Ted Morcaldi, multi-instrumentalist and drummer Zane West, Collin Wade on alto sax, Eric Zeiser on trumpet and Jason Fitch on tenor sax. Chianti Jazz Lounge will sponsor the performance. Two more SJSF/Berklee Summer Series concerts will take place this year: Albino Mbie on July 13; and Nick Hakim on Aug. 10. The seventh-annual Salem Jazz and Soul Festival will follow during the weekend of Aug. 17-18, featuring 12 bands, a kids’ tent, music-education tent, artisan fair and 21-plus beer pavilion. The two-day concert is free. The festival is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization that produces free concerts and raises money for music education causes on the North Shore.
