East coast soap company celebrates 50,000th bar of soap

DEBERT, Nova Scotia - June 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Rebecca Taylor wanted to share the beauty of Atlantic Canada with people all around the world. Inspired by the sea, the forests, and the meadows near her home, she founded Pearl & Daisy Natural Soap Company with a line of natural soap and bath products. In four short years, she has come a long way in achieving her dream. This week, the company produced its 50,000th bar of handcrafted soap.

Once it finishes its eight weeks of curing, the little bar of Nova Scotia soap could end up anywhere in the world. While most of the company's products are sold in gift and home decor stores in Canada and the USA, Pearl & Daisy also has a retail space at the Halifax Seaport, where thousands of international travelers search for unique gifts with a local flair. Last year, Pearl & Daisy gift sets were picked up by cruise ship passengers visiting from as far away as England, China, and Australia.

Made with ingredients like Balsam fir essential oil, kelp, and wild rose hips, each bar of soap captures a unique aspect of the east coast's natural beauty. The soap's popularity meant Taylor had to move the out of the workshop at her home in Nova Scotia's Cobequid mountains to a larger space in a nearby industrial park. Now she buys olive oil in drums, and ships products out by the pallet load. With sales that have doubled every year, the company is ready for even more growth.
