By: National Quality Standards Australia By 2016 half of educators in a service will need to hold their Diploma. Kirsty Fantini of Early Years Training and Consultancy says “while these are great changes for the industry, this also places a huge amount of pressure on those staff that have been in the industry for over 10 years to return to study and become qualified. This can be a daunting prospect for staff. Fortunately, these educators can achieve these qualifications through the recognition process. Kirsty goes on to explain “recognition involves the staff member gathering and demonstrating evidence of their current knowledge and skills along with an on the job skills assessment and competency conversation. In some cases gap training may be required however, this is a great option for those staff who are overwhelmed at the thought of studying” End
