Follow on Google News | World Famous Red Chair to Visit Sullivan CountyThe world-famous Red Chair, a symbol of beauty & relaxation will make its inaugural cross-country trip highlighting premiere inns and B&B's making a stop at two beautiful accommodations in the Sullivan County Catskills.
By: Sullivan County Visitors Throughout 2012 and early 2013, the Red Chair developed a personality of its own being photographed by innkeepers in communities from one end of New England to the other. Starting in Cape Cod, the Red Chair journeyed throughout the six New England states on a nine-month tour. Throughout 2013 and early 2014, photos and stories from the Red Chair’s journey to nearly 20 states will be added to the redchairtravels.com website as they are captured. Beth Colt, proprietor of the Woods Hole Inn on Cape Cod, where the Red Chair got its start, wrote to the Inn at Lake Joseph and ECCE B&B: “With your help, the Red Chair will travel across the country in just under nine months seeing all the special places that make our country America the beautiful. We’re hoping it will experience beaches, lakes and river fronts, mountains, pastures, canyons, landmarks, museums, statues and the secret places that you send your guests for great photos and memory-making… Alan Rosenblatt and Kurt Kreider, owners of ECCE B&B, plan to take the red chair on a tour of the bluff at ECCE, river rafting on the Delaware River and to other great locations in Sullivan County during its visit from July 2 through July 6. “Our area has so much to offer, including its scenic natural resources and outdoor activities, a creative arts community, a rich historic heritage, farmers markets, wineries, and unique culinary experiences,” Ivan and Rue Weinger, innkeepers of the Inn at Lake Joseph, plan to use the Red Chair from July 7 through July 9 to showcase the beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Planned settings include the Lake Joseph property, Bethel Woods Performing Arts Center, the Forestburgh Playhouse (where Rue hopes to get it on stage), and Mullet Falls. “We’re delighted to host the Red Chair during its trip across the U.S., and we’re so glad that it’s visiting Sullivan County and the Catskills early in its journey,” Rue Weinger said. “It’s a great time of year to experience the beauty and serenity of our mountains, lakes and rivers, and the vibrant energy of our people.” Colt also announced that the Inn at Lake Joseph and ECCE B&B, along with nearly 100 of the nation’s other most picturesque inns and B&BS, will be featured in a book chronicling the Red Chair’s travels. Less than 25% of the inns and bed & breakfasts that applied were invited to host the Red Chair for a special opportunity to highlight the beauty and tranquility of their establishments. But unlike larger hotels, the Inn, with only 16 guestrooms, has been described as a non-pretentious, romantic, luxury, jeans-and-sneakers casual country retreat that assures guests a relaxing, rustic, mountain lake environment. Over the years, the Inn has received numerous awards and has been praised in travel articles and publications, as well as by guests themselves on Trip Advisor.
