Follow on Google News | ![]() Midwest Lawyers See Opportunities in Mass Tort CasesBy: Sommers Schwartz The idea for the seminar originated with Sommers Schwartz attorney Jason J. Thompson. He described the event as an example of the “innovate or die” business philosophy. He explained, “Too many lawyers are missing the opportunity to help their clients by informing them of mass tort cases. With so many satisfied past clients, they really have an asset base to tap into and can provide their clients with valuable information.” The event kicked off with a networking party at Comerica Park and an evening Tigers-Rays baseball game. The one-day seminar connected lawyers with existing successful practices in a variety of areas – such as divorce, social security and workers’ compensation – with established mass tort lawyers. The featured seminar speakers were from the co-host mass tort law firms of Sommers Schwartz, Wexler Wallace and Johnson Becker. The seminar is planned to continue annually, alternating between Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit to facilitate attendance of lawyers practicing in the Great Lakes region. End
