Fort Ticonderoga 2013 Author Series Announced

ALBANY, N.Y. - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- (Ticonderoga, NY)  Fort Ticonderoga announces its 2013 Author Series, featuring authors of recent works related to the 18th- and 19th-century history of the Fort. The programs takes place in the Deborah Clarke Mars Education Center and are followed by a book signing in the Museum Store. The programs are included in the cost of admission. Members of the Friends of Fort Ticonderoga and Ticonderoga Ambassador Pass holders are admitted at no cost.
The series includes:
July 14, 2 pm —Donald N. Hagist, author of British Soldiers, American War: Voices of the American Revolution..

July 21, 11:30 am —Thomas A. Chambers, author of Memories of War: Visiting Battlegrounds and Bonefields in the Early American Republic.

July 28, 2 pm — Mark Bowie, author of In Stoddard’s Footsteps: The Adirondacks Then & Now gives a presentation on “Night over the North Country.”

September 29, 2 pm — Theodore Corbett, author of No Turning Point: The Saratoga Campaign in Perspective.

Additional programs this season at Fort Ticonderoga include the Second Conference on Lake George and Lake Champlain August 10 & 11, 2013. This two-day conference focuses on the history, geography, arts, culture, ecology, and current issues related to Lake George and Lake Champlain and features presentations by regional experts on topics as diverse as “Farmhouse Summers—O’Keeffe and Stieglitz on Lake George” and “The Floods of 2011: Impacts and Long-Term Implications for Lake Champlain.” This conference is open by pre-registration only; conference brochure and registration form is available on the Fort Ticonderoga website by selecting “Life Long Learning” under the “Explore and Learn” tab.
The Tenth Annual Fort Ticonderoga Seminar on the American Revolution September 20-22, 2013, features historians discussing the military, political, and social history of the War for American Independence. The ten sessions include “I See Nothing but the Horrors of a Civil War: Loyalists in the Champlain Valley” and “Peggy Shippen—the Mysteries of a Treacherous Life.” This seminar is open by pre-registration only; seminar brochure and registration form is available on the Fort Ticonderoga website by selecting “Life Long Learning” under the “Explore and Learn” tab.
