SCOTUS Decision Day Rally is planned for June 24, 2013, Harrisburg, PA

ENOLA, Pa. - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- In June, the U.S. Supreme Court will rule on two cases that are fundamentally about whether lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans should have the same freedoms as everyone else. Momentum for marriage equality is growing rapidly across the nation – regardless of one’s age, race, religious and party affiliation. Join Marriage Equality for PA, Capital Region Stonewall Democrats, and others on June 24, 2013 at the Federal Courthouse at 3rd and Walnut Streets, Harrisburg, PA at 5pm to show your support for the freedom to marry at this historic moment in the equality movement.

“One of our most basic American values is to treat others as you would like to be treated – and no one would want to be told who they can or can’t marry,” says Katie Somers of Marriage Equality of Pennsylvania – HLLY Chapter and Development Director of The Capital Region Stonewall Democrats.

With the help of Marriage Equality USA and Get EQUAL, a number of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) and allied groups, grassroots leaders, and families are mobilizing all over the country and outside the Supreme Court in solidarity. Decision Day Rally
On June 24th, Harrisburg will welcome the following guest speakers:

• Ben Allat - Harrisburg City Councilman Elect
• Ben Dunlap, Esquire
• Pastor Lori Rivera, MCC of the Spirit
• Lisa Pastal, Ally Supporter

Prior to the guest speakers, we will rally, as a group, in support of marriage equality in front of our federal courthouse, at 3rd and Walnut Streets, beginning at 5:00pm. Speakers will start around 5:30pm.
Now is the time for us: as gay and straight human beings to say, enough is enough – EQUALITY FOR ALL!

MARRIAGE EQUALITY FOR PA – HLLY CHAPTER is the Harrisburg, Lancaster, Lebanon and York Chapter of Marriage Equality for Pennsylvania. We are a statewide organization with local chapters. Our chapter in central PA seeks to work with our state chapter and other organizations and mobilize our local LGBT community as well as our Allies, to create awareness of issues pertaining in the LGBT community, most notably: marriage equality and discrimination.

CAPITAL REGION STONEWALL DEMOCRATS are a Political Action Committee, an organized group of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) citizens and straight allies in Pennsylvania’s Capital Region, including Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, and nearby communities.
