Advisors Academy Founder Aims to Turbo-Charge his Sales Process with Potent Non-Verbal Communication

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - June 14, 2013 - PRLog -- FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, June 14, 2013 - Like a lot of highly successful people whose jobs involve sales, David J. Scranton had studied his share of psychology over the years.  However, it wasn’t until he began to read extensively on the subject of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) that he found an area of psychology that seemed to fit perfectly with his own sales process.

Today, Scranton is on a mission to expand his personal expertise in the science and use of NLP, and to pass that knowledge on to members of Advisors’ Academy, his nationally renowned training and marketing organization for high-earning financial advisors.  

Toward that end, Scranton traveled to England this spring to attend another academy: the NLP Academy, an exclusive teaching program run by John Grinder, one of the co-creators of neuro-linguistic programming. After two weeks of intensive study, Scranton earned his certification as a practitioner of NLP.  

“I’ve always believed that when you have the opportunity to learn from the best, you should take advantage it,” Scranton said. “And I knew the only way to really apply these techniques to my sales process as deeply as I wanted was to learn NLP as thoroughly as any trainer.”  

Neuro-linguistic programming is a method of communication that involves the use of matching and modeling behaviors to strengthen connections with individuals and audiences and build non-verbal rapport.  Through the years, it has been refined and used by highly successful people in a broad range of professions, from politics to broadcasting to sales.

Scranton’s own proprietary and highly detailed sales process already incorporated many proven verbal techniques for building rapport, maintaining control and communicating effectively. However, he quickly found that by adding some of the  subtle matching and modeling skills developed by Grinder and fellow NLP pioneer Richard Bandler, his already powerful process became even more so.  He quickly saw the results in increased closing ratios, and so too did Advisors he coached who began integrating NLP.  

“I was really blown away,” Scranton said, “not only by how seamlessly I could weave these techniques into what I was already doing, but by the incredible results I got meeting after meeting.”

Scranton said one of the things that appeals to him most about NLP is the scientific methodology behind it.  

“It’s not a bag of tricks,” he said, “but a tested and proven process for helping you achieve one of the most important goals in our profession: connecting with people on a level that fosters trust and confidence.

“It’s also a method of ensuring that you are truly focused in your interactions with clients, prospects and people in general,” Scranton continued.  “It forces you to really listen, pay attention and understand this person’s individual psychology, to know what makes them tick.  Naturally, that puts you in a better position to do what’s best for that person, and it makes them feel comfortable and more motivated to work with you.”

Scranton said the other thing he likes about NLP is that it’s a perfectly teachable (and thus learnable) skillset. He said the training he received in England, while intensive, has already paid huge dividends in his own practice, and in his ongoing efforts to “turbo-charge” his Scranton Sales Process. He is already registered for more advanced NLP training this fall.  

“We now have the only sales process in the industry that strategically incorporates these powerful and 100% transferrable NLP techniques,” Scranton said. “The results have been amazing already, and they’re only going to get better as we move forward.”
