Kangol Autumn/Winter 13 Collection

July 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Seventy-five years ago in a remote corner of Northwest England Kangol was born. Founder Jacques Spreiregen created the name by combining the K from knitting, the ANG from angora, and the OL from wool as the company specialised in knitted hats made from these yarns.

Kangol commemorates this special anniversary with a collection celebrating the iconic styles of the headwear brand across the decades. Heritage pieces are accompanied by a collaboration with Disney; the Anglobesque Beret features an adorable detachable bow inspired by Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck, whilst the Wool 507 and Casual hat give Mickey Mouse and friends Donald Duck and Goofy the classic Kangol twist.

Kangol was born in England in 1938 and raised on the streets of New York in the 1980’s, with collections taking inspiration from both decades. Military pieces are given a feminine twist with velvets and satins adding a sumptuous finishing touch. The Tweed Player and Bowler styles are given a tailored feel with a narrow patent hat band adding an epaulet style to the 1930’s inspired range.

Classic styles from the Duke and the Arnold to the Beret and the Cloche can be styled with stunning decorative hat pins launched for the new season. The feather and blue enamel pins can be styled together or separately to further the vintage feel of the collection.

Kangol’s 80’s heritage is celebrated in the Digital range with the Bermuda style, as the Breaking K logo makes a comeback this season. Designed by groundbreaking graffiti artist Temper, the logo is inspired by classic graffiti art and represents a break dancing head spin.

The knit collections add a modern feel to the range varying on texture and style for the cold weather season, from the chunky Shavora Pull-On beanie to the Digital Ski hat. The fashion cap collection sees the revival of classic plaid checks, alongside the innovative quilted Hunter cap.

For autumn/winter 2013 Kangol has produced a collection which infuses key trends with the rich history of this fashion-forward brand.
