Kauai North Shore Community Foundation Forms to Support Community and Charitable Needs.

KAUAI, Hawaii - July 16, 2013 - PRLog -- A dedicated group of Kauai residents has come together to form the Kauai North Shore Community Foundation to raise funds to support community projects from Anahola to Haena, and all points in-between. The Foundation offers a variety of giving tools to help donors achieve their charitable goals and support projects and programs that enhance the vitality of the North Shore communities. The areas of focus for the Foundation include education and culture, youth and seniors, health and wellness, and public spaces.

According to Foundation Board President, Bob Doyle, "It is our vision that the Kauai North Shore Community Foundation becomes a leading player in the community and philanthropic life of Kauai. We offer a means by which donors can connect directly with the causes and organizations they support, and to positively address the multiple issues that impact the North Shore."

The Foundation has initiated the development of its inaugural project, the off-leash North Shore Dog Park. Kauai residents Bill and Joan Porter have generously donated the land use at the Wai Koa Plantation in Kilauea, and other local residents have donated $56,000 to initiate the project. The Foundation is fundraising for an additional $50,000 to complete the construction.

Contributions to the Kauai North Shore Community Foundation are tax-deductible and donors can specify projects or establish donor-advised funds, which confer significant tax benefits and can also play an important role in estate and tax planning.

A ten-person Board of Directors consisting of representatives from each North Shore community serves on a volunteer basis for the Foundation. Officers include: Bob Doyle as President, a long-time Kauai resident who also serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations; Rory Enright, general manager for the Princeville at Hanalei Community Association (PHCA), serving as Vice President/Secretary; and Teresa Young, a retired CPA with a nonprofit specialization while a tax partner with Deloitte, serving as Treasurer.

At-large board members include Barbara Cameron, Joel Guy, KipuKai Kuali`i, Gina Lobaco, Lorri Mull, Anna Olvera, and Mary Paterson.

The Kauai North Shore Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and is one of over 650 community foundations across the United States that provides local expertise and community leadership to donors, and establishes endowment funds that can make grants for charitable purposes.
