Clear Channel Cares Community Food Drive to Help Gleaners' Hunger Free Summer

WARREN, Mich. - July 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Gleaners Community Food Bank and Clear Channel are teaming up for Clear Channel Cares Community Food Drive on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 10a-2p. Clear Channel stations are broadcasting live from Gleaners' distribution site in Warren, asking listeners to drop off non-perishable food items for Hunger Free Summer. Clear Channel employees and 20 young (children) volunteers will collect donations and pack bags of food for distribution throughout local communities.

After dropping off donations, community members can register to win tickets to see Kid Rock, Justin Timberlake, Big Sean, Black Sabbath and other acts coming to town this year. Local radio personalities joining the food drive festivities include: Spike and Shannon from Mojo in the Morning, Jay Towers & Theresa Lucas from Fresh 100.3, Tracey McCaskill from Mix 92.3 and Shep from WDFN The Fan.

Seth Gold from truTV's Hardcore Pawn will be on hand from 11a-12n to sort donations along with local recording artists.

Gleaners Community Food Bank is located at 24140 Mound Road in Warren.

Nearly 320,000 children in southeast Michigan receive free or reduced-fee meals in school. That means when the school year ends, they become at risk of missing nutritious meals. Hunger Free Summer, underwritten by the Charter One Foundation, aims to provide 2 million meals during the summer months to ensure children in southeast Michigan do not go hungry. Donations are matched dollar-for-dollar by Charter One Foundation and 12 additional corporate sponsors. Every $1 donated provides six meals to hungry kids.
