By: Bravo! Vail Scheherazade – Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical retelling of 1,001 Arabian Nights – reflects the mystique of the collection of millennium-old fantasy tales from Egypt, Persia and India. The evening spotlights Dicterow, an acclaimed violinist, recording artist and the longest-serving concertmaster in New York Philharmonic history. After 34 years as concertmaster, he will step down following the 2013-2014 season to become the first holder of the Robert Mann Chair in Strings and Chamber Music at the University of Southern California’ “Scheherazade will always be, in my mind, a piece for Glenn Dicterow,” Liszt’ Called “one of the best pianists of our time” (New York Sun), Thibaudet is a favorite among Vail audiences.
