CARY, N.C. - July 21, 2013 - PRLog -- The intrigue, mystique and adventure of circumnavigating eastern North America by boat is known as “cruising the Great Loop.”  Some adventurers set out having done hours of research and planning to avoid surprises.  Others, like Skipper Jim Greer, prefer the unknown, especially when it comes to traveling the Great Loop on a solar-powered boat something that has not been done before.

Inspired by Tom Sawyer’s adventures Skipper Jim Greer began his boating life at the age of 14 now along with his crew of three adventure seekers are traveling over 6,000 miles of America’s Great Loop waterway  in a custom made solar-powered boat - The Ra - The cost to take this 6,000-mile trip in fuel alone would ordinarily be over $10,000 in a power boat.  But by using the power of the sun, the Ra is expected to have no fuel costs for its journey

When the crew finishes their journey, they will set a Guinness record and have a wealth of stories to tell, images to recall and events to weave into rich and vibrant stories.

Be inspired to experience an adventure of your own.

Perhaps you’re a Looper with your own stories to tell of cruising the Eastern United States’ waterways?  Meet the crew, learn of their adventures and be part of the journey of freedom known as sailing on Monday, July 22nd’’s Breaking Free Show at 1 pm/EST.  Join the conversation by clicking:   http://www.nissancommunications.com/breakingfree.php.
