Designing Spaces™ on Lifetime TV Filming in Jacksonville for its “Project Homeward Bound” Series

“Designing Spaces of Hope-Project Homeward Bound” renovates home for injured Purple Heart veteran and his family with the reveal scheduled for Friday, July 26 at 3:30pm

(Jacksonville, FL – July 23, 2013)  The Designing Spaces™ Dream Team will be in Jacksonville July 22-26 to film their three-part television series “Designing Spaces of Hope - Project Homeward Bound,” presented by Nissan North America. This national home improvement show joined forces with Purple Heart Homes, an organization that matches disabled Purple Heart recipients to donated foreclosed homes, to build a dream home for Purple Heart veteran PFC Jeffery Taylor, his wife and three children.

Currently living in a mobile home, the Taylor’s will see the renovations for the first time on Friday, July 26 at approximately 3:30pm followed by a Mission Complete Ceremony hosted by Purple Heart Homes. The reveal’s finale celebration will be a surprise backyard concert performed by Brian Howe, former lead singer of Bad Company.

“We’re so incredibly fortunate to be part of such an extraordinary project,” said  Lysa Liemer, Designing Spaces™ Executive Vice President of Programming/COO.  “To be able to give back to a military hero and his family that has served our country is one of our proudest achievements.”

Through its charitable efforts, Nissan focuses on touching lives and improving the quality of life in local communities. The company’s programs focus in three main areas including education, the environment and humanitarian aid. For the renovation, Nissanprovided cars and trucks to help move, haul, carry and distribute construction materials during the project. Nissan will also escort the Taylor family to the big reveal of their completely redesigned home.

The 2,300 square-foot, ranch-style house will be completely transformed into a dream home for the Taylors, thanks to the generous donations of extraordinary partners who will be part of the home’s transformation including: USAA, who is dedicated to the financial well-being of members of the military and their families, Earthcore Industries, LLC, Goodman Global, Inc, Interlogix, Liberty Safe and Security Products, Inc.,  Lifelock, Inc., Lifetime Products, Inc., Reliance Worldwide, Shaw Industries, Inc., Standard Furniture Manufacturing Company, Inc., and Tracfone Wireless, Inc.  Several other companies donated hardware, fixtures, interior furnishings and structural goods to make this dream home come true.

Jeffery Taylor served our country in Iraq and did not return unharmed.  Together we have helped him and his family heal.  We wish them every success as they rebuild their lives for the service and sacrifice made on our behalf," said Purple Heart Home Co-founder John Gallina.

Private First Class Taylor was critically injured during the Operation Iraqi Freedom invasion when his crew’s vehicle came under mortar attack just outside the Bagdad Airport, causing it to roll over into a canal and trap Jeff under it. Rescued but left with a crushed leg, Jeff also lives with nerve damage, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) and hearing loss.    

Project Homeward Bound is dedicated to raise awareness about disabled veterans coming home who are suffering from PSTD, (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and the sacrifice they have made for our country.  The series will air September 25-27, 2013 on Designing Spaces™on Lifetime Television at 7:30am (ET/PT).
