Iasa celebrates the first Australian chapter in Sydney

AUSTIN, Texas - July 31, 2013 - PRLog -- Austin, TX, August 2013 – Iasa, the world’s largest IT Architecture professional association celebrates the launch of its first Australian chapter in Sydney.

“Our vision is to create a strong, inclusive, “go-to” community for standards and knowledge on the IT Architecture profession, where IT architects working in different industries with diverse specialization areas can interact, share their knowledge and access Iasa resources. Thus providing the platform for members to increase their profile and exposure within their organizations and have the opportunity of making a real difference in the industry and Australia” explained Anton Schoeman, President of the Iasa Sydney Chapter and Business Solution Architect with Transport for NSW.
Anton has extensive experience in leading architecture engagements to ensure the architecture practice becomes a trusted adviser and reference point for stakeholders, that allows for a high quality customer outcomes and architecting the enterprise solution-by-solution. It is his aim is to reduce complexity in solutions to deliver business values and achieve business outcomes.

In the next couple of months, the chapter leadership team will be focusing on growing the membership base by leveraging professional networks, the existing official Chapter LinkedIn group and informal events to promote the chapter. At the same time, there will be opportunities for interested architects to join the chapter board, in order to have greater bandwidth to plan and deliver more initiatives and create more advocates within the Sydney IT community.

Stefano has over twenty years of IT experience working for global consulting companies, software vendors and on the client side. He has been involved in several engagements in various international locations around the world. Stefano has played key architecture roles in the design, development and delivery of complex multi-platform IT solutions for large clients. His focus in the last ten years has been leading architecture teams in multi-million dollar programs in complex and fast pace environments.
He holds a Master of Business in Information Technology Management (MBITM) from University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) and is the Founding/current Chair of the MBITM Board.

“Our main driver to start an Iasa chapter in Sydney was to create a local community where IT architects, working in different industries with diverse specialization areas, can interact and share their knowledge as well as get access to Iasa resources” Stefano said and continued “By promoting Iasa and raising awareness of its architecture certification program, we want to make sure that our profession is recognized and up-held to the highest standards, in order to preserve its integrity and ethics, which will ensure a sustainable future.” Chapter Vice President is Chris Johnson, a passionate advocate for architecture practice, mentoring and professional development with over 10 years of experience of shaping and delivering complex multiyear transformation programs and start-up businesses in the financial services sector across insurance, wealth, capital markets, banking, risk and treasury.
Chris’ motivation to start the Iasa Chapter in Sydney is “to secure the future of IT Architecture as a profession through raising the profile and standing of the practice and its practitioners. By building a strong community that supports continuous knowledge development and transfer, career progression and certification, we aim to ensure that our profession is recognized and up-held to the highest standards” he explained. “Chapters and communities are the heartbeat of Iasa as an organization” said Damaris Bode, Global Chapter Director at Iasa, “The demand and need for a local chapter in Australia has been significantly increasing for the past few years.
