Follow on Google News | NFL invites Jim Tunney to return to officiating staffJim Tunney, NFL Veteran of 31 years, has accepted the National Football League’s invitation to return to the NFL officiating staff.

Tunney will be reporting each week to the NFL officiating department the actions that occurred on and off the field. In a recent interview Tunney said, “I’ Tunney left the playing field as a 31-year Referee in 1991; yet, he has kept pace with the changes in the game by suggesting rule changes, studying games each week on television, and participating in regular discussions with on-field officials. Tunney has been consistently called upon by the media for comments on plays, games and incidents that occur each week. His on-field career is exemplary having worked a record 29 post season games, 25 Monday Night games (when Monday Night Football was the game of the week), 10 championships games and 4 Super Bowls-2 of which were back-to-back. To date, Tunney is the only official in the Referee position to have done so. A published author of 9 books, Tunney currently writes “On the TUNNEYSIDE of SPORTS” Tunney holds a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California, and is an internationally recognized professional expert in his field. He speaks internationally on topics of leadership, T*E*A*M building and customer care. He was inducted into the National Speakers Association Speakers Hall of Fame in 1980.
