Follow on Google News | ![]() Worker Studio & Denver Film Society Host Tribute to Phil HartmanAugust 10, at 7:00 p.m. at the Sie Film Center, Worker Studio Animation and the Denver Film Society are hosting a Tribute to comedy legend Phil Hartman with special guests and presentation for an animated film in development.
By: Worker Studio Worker Studio is currently developing an animated adaptation of a posthumoulsy discovered comedy album that Phil Hartman wrote and recorded in 1978, called Phil Hartman's Flat TV. Hartman's brother, Paul Hartmann is collaborating on the project as a producer, and will be Skyped in live at the event. Joining Paul Hartmann on Skype, will be Phil's former cast members from Pee-wee's Playhouse, Lynne Marie Stewart (Miss Yvonne) and John Paragon (Jambi the Genie), who all got their start together at the L.A. comedy troupe, The Groundlings. Hosting the evening's event will be Colorado-based actor Maggie Roswell, who voices the roles of Maude Flanders and Helen Lovejoy on The Simpsons. She worked with Phil Hartman on The Simpsons, from his days voicing Troy McClure, Lionel Hutz and other memorable characters, between 1991 and his death in 1998. Worker Studio will be sharing news on their development of Phil Hartman's Flat TV. Following a Q&A session with guests, the Denver Film Society will be screening the acclaimed anime film, Kiki's Delivery Service. It is 1998 Hayao Miyazaki film and in the English-dubbed release, Phil Hartman voiced the co-starring role of Jiji the cat. The film will be screened on a 35mm print, as the Sie Film Center is the only movie house in Denver with that projection capability.
