A collaboration of art and marriage - Valeriy & Marita Vaskov, two talented artistscurrently living and working in Lisbon, Portugal, will exhibit their vivid and stunning paintings at the Ukrainian National Museum. Their paintings display their love for the intensity of beauty and color which they share in their united world.

Born in Ukraine in 1947, Valeriy Vaskov had a passion for art that began in his childhood. His journey began in 1963 when he attended the College of Applied Arts in Vinnytsya, Ukraine. Continuing his formal training he received his Masters degree in Fine Arts and became the art director of a popular folk dance group in Vinnytsya. For more than 30 years Vaskov loaned his artistic passion to choreography while still devoting time and talent to his paintings. In 1999, Vaskov immigrated to Lisbon, Portugal, where he switched his main focus back to painting. Since 2001, his paintings have been shown in over 33 different exhibitions in many European countries such as Belgium, Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands. His art is owned and actively collected by many private collectors and museums worldwide.

Marita Vaskov, Valeriy’s wife, inspires new creative ideas and will delight audiences with the unexpected during this exhibit at the museum. Marita believes that classical allegory and creative aspiration embody the power of art. Valeriy has said of his wife “Creativity flows when your wife, your partner, is doing everything possible to ensure that the creativity in your life is the source of your independence.” Both artists are featured in “The Golden Book of Portuguese Contemporary Artists”.   Exhibit continues through September 29, 2013.
