Mark D. DeBofsky, national authority on disability claims, forms new Chicago law firm

CHICAGO - Aug. 14, 2013 - PRLog -- Chicago attorney Mark D. DeBofsky has established DeBofsky & Associates P.C., a specialty law firm dedicated to consultation and litigation assistance regarding disability insurance, life/accidental death insurance, long-term care, health, retirement and other employee benefit issues. The firm opened its office at 200 W. Madison St. in Chicago this month. 

In law practice since 1980, DeBofsky has litigated hundreds of cases in the federal courts and U.S. Courts of Appeals, resulting in numerous precedent-setting victories on behalf of the individual against theretofore “untouchable” insurance companies, including Unum, MetLife, Prudential and Cigna. In 2002, DeBofsky was a founding partner of the distinguished and influential Chicago firm Daley DeBofsky & Bryant, nationally recognized for its litigation skills and results in disability and Social Security law. As one of the country’s pre-eminent authorities on employee benefits, DeBofsky has testified before the U.S. Senate and the Department of Labor, most recently in 2012 to argue for administrative and legislative reform of ERISA, the federal law regulating employee benefits.

DeBofsky’s associates in the new practice are Martina B. Sherman and Marie E. Casciari. Sherman has a certificate in Labor and Employment Law, and both she and Casciari have expertise in disability, insurance and other employee benefits issues and litigation. DeBofsky, Sherman and Casciari are an established team, having worked together since 2009, and they are joined by a full support staff.

Of the transition to his new practice, DeBofsky says, “At this juncture, I decided that I could be more productive in a boutique environment.
