A Used Car Dealer in Hagerstown Supports Golf Tournament for Disabled Veterans

Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- On July 26^th and 27^th, Massey Hyundai, a local used car dealer in Hagerstown, supported a golf tournament for the Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA). The SMGA is a non-profit organization that provides post-9/11 disabled veterans and their families with rehabilitating golf experiences and special family-member only golf opportunities.

The Salute Military Golf Association was founded by Jim Estes, a director of instruction at Olney Golf Park in Olney, Maryland. Estes started the program after he witnessed both the mental and physical positive effects playing golf had on wounded soldiers. He hopes to help these brave men and women live a positive and fulfilling life.

Since its start, the SMGA has provided wounded soldiers with golf clubs, free lessons, mental and physical rehabilitative benefits and individualized player development programs such as golf clinics, personal lessons, specialized equipment and even personal experiences.

Congressmen Jeff Miller, Chairman, House Committee on Veterans Affairs, had this to say about the SMGA program:

“The golf community through organizations such as the Salute Military Golf Association is taking the lead on providing many of our wounded veterans with a preview of the full and productive life they have ahead of them, a life in which a battlefield field injury is not a disability, nor does it define the person.”
