To kickoff the return to school in Canarsie and surrounding communities, the LDCENY’S Sandy Relief efforts is coordinating a collaborative marketing campaign promoting 12 local businesses starting Thursday, August 29th through Sunday, September 8th. Some of these local businesses are offering discounts enticing customers to shop local by offering discounts up to 30% off to the community as part of the Back to School Campaign.

Businesses included are: Avenue L Salon and Spa - 9324 Avenue L, B&H Home Center - 1414 Rockaway Parkway, Eny’s Truly Dominican Salon - 95-26 Avenue L,Canarsie Optical - 2108 Rockaway Parkway, City Kicks - 2116 Rockaway Parkway, Classic Barber Salon -1506 Rockaway Parkway, Ideal Magic 99 cents Store - 9418 Avenue L, I-Max Fashions -1466 Rockaway Parkway, S&D Female Clothing Store -1466 Rockaway Parkway, Shoreview Cards and Gifts - 2086 Rockaway Parkway, Success Stories Learning Center - 9506 Avenue L, VIP Pro Audio - 215 Conklin Avenue.

About the LDCENY Sandy Relief Project - The Local Development Corporation of East New York in a collaborative agreement with the US Small Business Administration is providing counseling, marketing and technical assistance to businesses located in Canarsie, Coney Island and Gerritsen Beach that were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

About the LDCENY - The Local Development Corporation of East New York is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to making East Brooklyn a better place to live and work. The LDC pursues this objective by promoting a physical environment and other conditions that are supportive to businesses, large and small. LDC initiatives include working with city agencies to promote safety and sanitation, preserving and developing the local industrial base and attracting new businesses to the area. The LDC provides support to businesses located in the community’s industrial areas, commercial strips and retail malls. We also provide assistance to individuals who are starting or expanding businesses. These range from sole proprietorships with a few employees to larger companies employing hundreds of people.
