#The Voices' Christian Porter and CILA Artist Minnie Dee set to perform at the Contemporary Art Fair

Contemporary Art Fair NYC, in its fourth year, has invited Christian Porter, from Season 4 of "The Voice" and NY CILA Artist Minnie Dee to entertain artists and visitoors at the opening reception on Friday October 25th, from 5-6:30 pm.

Porter is a 21-year-old singer/songwriter from small town Stroudsburg, PA. Inspired by artists like John Mayer, Jason Mraz, Coldplay, Dave Matthews, Christian learned from the ground up and is making his way to the top with great success in creating and releasing two original albums, and opening for artists such as Ryan Cabrera, Kelly Pickler, Gavin DeGraw to his most recent success of appearing on NBC's 4th Season of "The Voice" joining the team of Blake Shelton.

Porter's Video for his version of "Sexy and I know It", hit over 1,000,000 YouTube views, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pAwYKuWhuE, and will bring a special acoustic set to the Contemporary Art Fair. Porter says "Minnie Dee and I are really excited to entertain the artists and visitors at an event that reflects some of the city's most vibrant creative energy. Dee, based in New York, is a singer, actress, and professional dancer who brings a retro/pop set to her work.



In addition to the art fair's exhibitors including independent painters, photographers, sculptors and artists working in mixed media, a second event, the American Fine Craft Show NYC, features the best of artisans working with glass, ceramic, wood, textiles and other materials. "Seldom is there a venue that combines both the exclusive world of New York art fairs and shows where artisans exhibit their crafts," says Richard Rothbard, producer and founder of this event and owner of an American Craftsman Galleries, the event sponsor.

This dual event follows in a tradition begun in 1939 by American Craft Council founder Aileen Orson Webb. "By presenting contemporary art under the same roof with fine craft, we seek to further erase outdated 20th century distinctions that seperated the 'fine' arts from the 'applied' arts.  We recognize the prominent position of maker values and DIY aesthetics in contemporary culture and play a leading role in expanding the marketplace for art with historical, material or cultural ties to the America Studio Craft Movement".
