RALEIGH, N.C. - Sept. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Raleigh, NC - Women’s Power Networking (WPN) Crabtree Chapter’s “Back to School Back to Business” Cocktails and Contacts Networking Party garnered hundreds of dollars of donated school supplies Tuesday while attendees enjoyed an evening of “friend-working at Applebee’s Six Forks.

Dana Zamrik, Crabtree Chapter co-organizer of the popular women’s organization said, “We chose Cooper Elementary in Johnston County because a large percentage of their students are from low-income households. Funds for school supplies and books are not items that fit in the family budget.” She went on to say she was alerted to the situation at Cooper by Shay Vail, a member of the Women’s Club of Clayton (http://thewomansclubofclaytonnc.org) which actively works to support the school through their education and literacy program.

“The number of notebooks, index cards, pens, pencils, calculators, crayons, and paper goods that filled our donation bin was truly heartwarming,” said Eileen Batson, who co-organizes the Crabtree chapter with Zamrik. “We thank everyone who attended and participated in our ‘back to school donofest’.  Special thanks to our chapter members who jumped in to make this event a reality and Applebee’s for offering their Six Forks location.”

Marilyn Shannon and Jean Hedges, co-founders of Women’s Power Networking, were excited about the success of the event and how well it lived up to the mission of WPN: to enable professional women to achieve their highest potential by fostering a stimulating environment where they can form relationships, build alliances, share knowledge and provide support to one another. WPN celebrates the concept of womanhood and its outpouring of compassion, goodwill and encouragement.
