CAPE CORAL, Fla. - Oct. 1, 2013 - PRLog -- Fafco Solar announces it has recently completed the installation of a solar pool heating system at The Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers, FL. The solar panels will provide heating for the community’s 64,000 gallon commercial pool with a 60-person bathing load.

“The Club came to me looking for a way to reduce operational costs and provide a reliable year-round heat source,” said Fafco Solar Advisor, Dominick Zito. “Community and commercial pools are perfect applications for solar panels, where the heating requirements are well defined and often required by community by-laws and operating agreements.”

The solar heating system is comprised of (24) FAFCO Sunsaver solar panels, (http://www.fafcosolar.com/go-solar/solar-pool-heater/sunsaver-panels/) roof mounted on an aluminum rail structure atop the Club at Renaissance clubhouse building. This system will offset electricity currently required for four existing electric heat pumps, greatly reducing the Club’s operating costs for heating the community pool.

“My goal was to reduce our everyday operating expenses,” said The Club at Renaissance Club Manager, Gene Collins. “Solar pool heating offered the greatest return on investment and had the added benefit of being a renewable energy source! After extensive research and multiple quotes, we decided to go with Dominick Zito and Fafco Solar, as they offered the skills, expertise, and almost 40 years of local experience to get the job done right the first time.”

According to Fafco, the system is expected to pay for itself in 2-3 years by providing free solar thermal energy. Electronic automation integration offers the option of nocturnal cooling during the summer months. This is accomplished with a solar pool heating controller, which also regulates the pool temperature during daytime solar operation. The system integrates seamlessly with the existing pool circulation equipment and auxiliary electric heaters.

“Commercial solar pool heating relies upon the same panels used for residential applications, but requires specialized technical knowledge,” added Fafco Solar VP, Jason Szumlanski. “Commercial solar panel installation also requires compliance with health code requirements, and equipment needs to meet the heating demands and flow dynamics of larger pools. Fafco Solar has local in-house expertise, as well as manufacturer support, allowing us to effectively complete this type of challenging project.”
