WASHINGTON - Oct. 7, 2013 - PRLog -- On Sunday September 22nd, The Cade Foundation, a nonprofit organization that serves the needs of families battling infertility kicked off its 8th annual Maryland Family Fun Run, 5k Run/1 mile Stroller Derby and IVF giveaway.  Over 600 participants from 5 states joined the organization in Seneca State Park for an action packed day of friendly competition and family centered activities to celebrate for the noblest of causes, the gift of life.

Attendees of the Maryland race were granted the opportunity to fellowship among local families over a complimentary picnic featuring an assortment of games by Savannah’s Playground for 2 to 8 year olds. All registrants were gifted a t-shirt and entered into a drawing to win a free in vitro fertilization treatment from Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) .All registration fees and donations raised were directly funneled back into adoption and IVF grants. Tiffany Emami Locke of Reston, Virginia was announced as the lucky winner of the drawing and over $60,000 was raised to assist additional families facing infertility.

“What is interesting is that I had been approaching this round of IVF with a lot of fear. After winning the raffle, I have so much more hope for this cycle,” says IVF winner Tiffany Emami Locke. “I feel so humbled by this amazing gift. My husband and I both have a renewed commitment to spreading the word about infertility.”

The Cade Foundation was founded in 2005 to offer education and support to infertile families. The organization was named after founders- Drs Jason and Camille Hammond’s, mother, Dr Tinina Cade, who carried and delivered the couples’ triplets following 5 years of infertility. To date, the Cade Foundation has hosted hundreds of outreach events throughout the US and provided 32 families with financial support for adoption and fertility treatment nationwide.

“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support for the 8th Annual Maryland Race for the Family,” says Dr. Camille Hammond, Chairman of the Cade Foundation. “The contributions from the event will be of great assistance in helping us further our mission of empowering families around the country.”
