PALM BEACH, Fla. - Oct. 10, 2013 - PRLog -- (Palm Beach, Fla.) Hamilton Jewelers is unveiling a very rare Round Brilliant Cut Fancy Purplish Pink Diamond at its Worth Avenue location next month, by appointment only. The 4.50-carat Natural Pink Diamond is rated Internally Flawless (IF) by the Gemological Association of America. Set in a custom-designed platinum and rose gold ring, the Round Brilliant Cut Fancy Pink Diamond is flanked two Fancy Blue Diamond side stones totaling .35 carats. The price of the ring is available upon request.

“This exquisite pink diamond’s unusual ‘sweet baby pink’ color and IF clarity add to its rarity, of course,” said Hank Siegel, President of Hamilton Jewelers. “But because the Round Brilliant cut is so rarely found in Fancy Color Diamonds, this Fancy Pink is best compared to a Fancy Intense Pink -- one grade higher -- in any other fancy shape.”

Natural Pink Diamonds comprise just 0.03% of global diamond production. Their popularity among international investors and connoisseurs is demonstrated in part by their performance at the world’s most exclusive auction houses.

·         In 2012, Sotheby’s New York auctioned a 6.54 carat oval shaped Fancy Intense Pink Diamond for $8.59 million, or $1.3 million per carat.

·         The most expensive gem ever sold at auction was an emerald cut Fancy Intense Pink Diamond of 24.78 carats. It fetched $46.15 million, or $1.8 million per carat, at Sotheby’s Geneva in 2010.

·         The most famous Round Brilliant Fancy Pink Diamond is the 23.6 carat Williamson Pink, the centerpiece of a brooch in the Royal Collection, owned by Queen Elizabeth II. It is reported to be the inspiration for a Fancy Pink Diamond brooch the Duke of Cambridge is designing for his wife to commemorate the birth of their son George Alexander Louis.

British journalist and jewelry historian Vivienne Becker wrote in the Financial Times last year: “High-quality pink diamonds can reach 20 or even 50 times the price for a white diamond equivalent, and prices have increased exponentially, in the past 10 years, defying economic crises.”
