BOSTON - Oct. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Flutist Peter H. Bloom, known for his versatility and virtuosity, announces several events in October 2013: October 18, FiLmprov at Church of the Advent in Boston; October 24, Music and Dance from the Great American Songbook, Nichols College, Dudley MA; and October 27, Bloom Appears as Guest Artist with Charles Neville, Florence, MA.

October 18, FiLmprov at Church of the Advent Boston. The Advent Library Concert Series, known for its innovative programming, will present an evening of FiLmprov, blending improvised music with the animated films of contemporary filmmaker Kate Matson, on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 8 pm, Church of the Advent, 30 Brimmer Street, Boston, MA 02108.  The featured event will be Matson’s film The Yorick Follies.  The stellar musical ensemble includes Peter H. Bloom, Flutes and Saxes; Dan Zupan, Clarinets and Saxes; Mark Harvey, Trumpet, Music Director; Bill Lowe, Trombone; Rob Bethel, Cello; John Funkhouser, Bass; Jerry Leake, Percussion. October 24, Jazz & Tap at Nichols College, Dudley, MA.  Acclaimed tap dancers and vocalists Pamela and Ted Powers join the versatile and virtuosic Bloom/Leighton duo (Peter H. Bloom flute & Mark Leighton guitar) for a festive show of Sizzle & Swing: Music and Dance from the Great American Songbook on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 1:30 pm, Nichols College, Fels Student Center, 124 Center Road, Dudley, Massachusetts 01571. October 27, VFW Hall in Florence with Charles Neville.  Legendary saxophonist Charles Neville, of the famed Neville Brothers, will perform a show of R&B, funk, jazz, blues and bebop at VFW Hall in Florence, MA on Sunday October 27, 2013 at 7:30 pm.  Peter J. Newland and RadioXile will perform with Neville.  Joining the band as special guest will be flutist Peter H. Bloom, known for his versatility in jazz, blues, bebop and other genres, and a veteran of the celebrated Aardvark Jazz Orchestra.  The Pioneer Valley’s own Lonesome Brothers (Jim Armenti and Ray Mason) will open the show with a blend of country, rock and folk.  Playing with RadioXile and backing up Charles Neville will be Mark Pappas on guitar, Chet Pasek on drums, Guy DeVito on bass and Ralph Whittle on keyboard.  Tickets: $12 at the door.  Proceeds will benefit Stand Up To Cancer, working to accelerate innovative cancer research. Flutist Peter H. Bloom is a jazz and classical flutist who tours the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia and appears on 35 CDs, including 11 discs with the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra. In almost 40 years with the band, he has played at Lake George Jazz Weekend, Boston Globe Jazz and Blues Festival, Berklee Performance Center, Scullers Jazz Club, The National Gallery in DC, Saint Peter’s Church (NYC), Jacob’s Pillow, and elsewhere, and has performed with jazz greats Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton, Walter Thompson, Raj Mehta, Geri Allen, and Jaki Byard.
