Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, 51st Christmas Concert, Dedicated to Boston Jazz Hero Arni Cheatham

BOSTON - Dec. 4, 2023 - PRLog -- Hailed as "one of the best jazz ensembles in the world" (Jazz Podium, Germany),  the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, led by founder and music director Mark Harvey, will present its 51st Annual Christmas Concert on Saturday, Dec 9, 2023, at 7:30 pm in the beautiful Church of the Covenant, in Boston's historic Back Bay neighborhood, 67 Newbury St Boston MA 02116.  The concert is a benefit for Rosie's Place founded in 1974 as  the first women's shelter in the United States.  The event is dedicated to Arni Cheatham (1944-2023), esteemed Aardvark saxophonist for 45 of the band's 51 years.  Tickets are $20 at the door.  For information, call 617 776 8778 or email rhd@amwks.com

The December 9 concert will feature the premiere of Mark Harvey's latest piece, The Gift, in Cheatham's honor, plus joyful jazz carols, spirituals, and wide-ranging American originals.    Aardvark is: Peter H. Bloom, Phil Scarff, Chris Rakowski, Dan Zupan, Daniel Ian Smith/saxophones and woodwinds; K.C. Dunbar, Jeanne Snodgrass, Taylor Ho Bynum/trumpets; Bob Pilkington, Jay Keyser/trombones; Bill Lowe/bass trombones, tuba; Richard Nelson/guitar; Jesse Williams/string bass; Harry Wellott/drums; Grace Hughes, vocalist; and Mark Harvey, music director.  The Aardvark Jazz Orchestra is managed by Americas Musicworks, Rebecca DeLamotte, director.
