Video Broadcasting of City Council Meetings Commences Monday, October 21

SAN LEANDRO, Calif. - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- Mayor Cassidy and the San Leandro City Council announced today that all City Council meetings and City Council work sessions will be broadcast live on local public access television (Comcast channel 15 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99) beginning at 7:00 pm tonight and streamed live via the city website www.sanleandro.org.  Videos of each meeting also will be archived on the city website for later viewing.

“Broadcasting our meetings and work sessions live, and posting the video recordings online, will substantially increase the accessibility, transparency and, ultimately, accountability of today’s and all future San Leandro City Councils,” stated Mayor Cassidy.

For the past several months, City staff have been working diligently to complete the installation of this brand new, state of the art equipment in the City Council chambers in order to make video streaming a reality.  To view City Council meetings live as they happen, or to view or listen to past meetings, simply visit the City’s homepage www.sanleandro.org and click on the “City Council Meetings” button, where a link can be found to view live meetings.  Video recordings of the event also will be broadcast live each week on San Leandro local public access television, with repeat broadcasts occurring throughout the following week.

The monies for the purchase and installation of the new audio and video equipment in the City Council chambers came from Public, Educational and Government (PEG) funds.  PEG funds are collected from franchise fees paid by cable television providers, and may only be used for limited purposes, such as public education.
