DALLAS - Oct. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- As the economy begins to improve, the housing market is also on the rise allowing for increased numbers of new homebuyers. Local nonprofits,  HUD-Approved Housing Counseling Agencies and HUD grant programs  interested in assisting consumers with purchasing a new home in a safe and informed way have come together to host the Home Buying Expo on Sat., Oct. 26 from 9am – 1:30 pm at Friendship West Baptist Church (http://www.friendshipwest.org/)located at 2020 W. Wheatland Rd. in Dallas.

“The recent uptick in the economy has allowed us to see a light at the end of the tunnel,” said Todd Mark, vice president of education for Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (http://www.cccs.net/) who will be providing counseling services at the Expo. “Consumers are saving again and want to be more informed on all of the costs purchasing and owning a home entails. We are thrilled to be a part of the Home Buying Expo and to work with our partners to ensure we have well prepared and informed homebuyers in North Texas.”

Attendees of the Home Expo will be able to meet with certified counselors and housing industry professionals to learn:

The step-by-step process of buying a home
- How to improve your credit score
- How to qualify for special grant programs in the Dallas/Fort Worth area
- What down payment assistance programs are available
- Where to attend a HUD-approved Home Buyer Education Class
- How to get pre-qualified for a mortgage loan

“Normally a first-time homebuyer would spend hours on the phone or on the internet trying to locate down payment assistance programs.  The Home Buying Expo provides all this information in one place”, said M. Joyce Brown, Administrator of the Dallas County Home Loan Counseling Center.

In addition to CCCS of Greater Dallas, the event will be hosted by Urban League of Greater Dallas, North Texas (http://ulgdnctx.com/) Housing Coalition, Tarrant County Housing Partnership (http://www.tchp.net/), NID Counseling Agency-Ft Worth, and Dallas County Home Loan Counseling Center.
