CCCS Hosts 4th Annual Purses with a Purpose Fundraiser, Oct. 29

Silent and Live Auction with Raffle will Raise Money to Provide Free Financial Literacy Education and Counseling to Women in Need
By: Consumer Credit Counseling Service

DALLAS - Sept. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- A recent Prudential Research Study on Financial Experience & Behaviors Among Women showed that fewer than two in 10 women feel “very prepared” to make wise financial decisions and half indicated they “need some help.” The purpose of the purses at the Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS) 4th Annual Purses with a Purpose event is to ensure women in need have access to free financial education regardless of their current living situation or economic state. The live and silent auction, raffle and wine pull will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Frontiers of Flight Museum.

All proceeds from the auction underwrite CCCS community outreach and financial education for low income women at area domestic violence shelters, legal clinics, prison systems, child care centers, as well as job re-entry and training programs. Raising awareness and funds to close the financial literacy gap for women – especially low income women – is the goal of the fourth annual Purses with a Purpose.

“We are so thrilled to have the 4th Annual CCCS Purses with a Purpose silent and live auction, raffle and wine pull at the Frontiers of Flight Museum this year,” said Kathaleen Bauer, financial advisor with Murphy & Sylvest, LLC and chair of the volunteer host committee for CCCS Purses with a Purpose event. “As a financial service professional, I witness first-hand the issues women struggle with in relation to their finances. It is such an honor to be able to raise money for women in need of financial literacy education and one-on-one counseling so that they may able to safely get back on their feet.”

“The silent and live auction will have more than 100 designer and vintage purses, as well as opportunities to bid on vacation packages, Thanksgiving Day Cowboy game seats including a football signed by Roger Staubach, one-of-a-kind jewelry and much more,” continued Bauer.

KXAS NBC 5’s morning anchor, Deborah Ferguson, is hostess and mistress of ceremonies for the event. Select wine and heavy hors d’ oeuvres will also be served.
