By: Westway Ford DALLAS - Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- Westway Ford was the title sponsor of this year’s Dash for Dignity 5K/1-mile Fun Run, an annual event that raises funds and awareness for Citizens Development Center (CDC), a non-profit group serving adults living with physical and mental disabilities. This year’s event broke new attendance and monetary records, and over 800 participants showed up in Irving-Las Colinas to enjoy the race and other activities.
“The Citizens Development Center, Dash for Dignity, is right here in our backyard, and we’re very proud to have been invited and be the lead sponsor in this event. It’s a record year; they’ve set all-time records for their donations and we’re glad to be associated with that,” said Westway Ford Managing Partner Barton Hankins. “We can’t thank the community enough for coming out in huge numbers to support such a worthwhile organization and the work they do all year round. It was a really great day for everyone involved.” The 2013 Dash for Dignity featured music, raffles, local food vendors and artists, carnival games and various other activities for event-goers to enjoy. The Dash was once again co-chaired by KDFW Fox 4 sportscaster Mike Doocy and his wife, Ruth. The monies raised during the event directly support the 400 plus individuals with disabilities that Citizens Development Center serves annually. Having Westway Ford, having that name that’s known in the community, made all the difference in the world,” said Laura Tschida of Citizens Development Center. With programs that focus on empowering disabled individuals to achieve the highest possible level of independence, personal pride, satisfaction and meaningful employment, Citizens Development Center provides services to adults with disabilities, their caregivers and families. Through job placement programs, classes, social gatherings and outings, the CDC helps to ensure success in employment and self-sufficiency.
