Dynetics Announces Warhead Center of Excellence at Air Armament Symposium 2013

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. - Nov. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- In the battlefield, terminating hardened targets can mean the difference between swift resolution and extensive operations for the warfighter. Taking the next step, the company today announced the Dynetics Warhead Center of Excellence in its Cummings Research Park headquarters in Huntsville, Ala., to develop and deliver reliable, effective weapons for today’s warfighter facing deeply buried and hardened targets. The announcement was made at the Air Armament Symposium 2013 being held here today and tomorrow at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. The company is exhibiting in Booth #40.

The Dynetics Warhead Center of Excellence offers comprehensive engineering, design and manufacturing capabilities that enable the company to deliver advanced penetrating munitions and other warheads, said David King, Dynetics’ president. “Our highly trained and experienced technical staff working in our state-of-the-art Solutions Complex, R&D labs and manufacturing facility together create an environment where the process of design to production of warheads is integrated seamlessly.”

Greg Lester, executive vice president for Defense, Space and Intelligence programs, said, “Our Warhead Center of Excellence enables us to solve problems with existing weapons, bringing them greater performance and reliability; to implement product improvements to legacy penetrators, demonstrating improved survivability and effectiveness against hardened targets; and to pioneer new production methodologies for penetrator applications.”

Dynetics has more than 360,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities with full lifecycle capabilities. The company, which has been providing products and services to the government and other customers since 1974, develops products using the quality standards AS9100C, ISO 9001:2008 and SEI CMMI® Level 3.

“Dynetics brings decades of munitions development and design, ranging from the Massive Ordinance Air Blast weapon (MOAB) to the Massive Ordinance Penetrator (MOP),” said King.

The Air Armament Symposium 2013 provides a two-day interchange for senior government industry leaders at all levels to identify and share opportunities to capitalize on the Department of Defense’s affordability-focused leadership and discuss application to current and planned armament development and modernization. Featured are nationally recognized speakers, panel discussions, defense industry armament exhibits, networking opportunities and professional training accreditation.

The theme of the 39th annual event is “Better Buying Power: Implementation and Innovation in the Weapons Enterprise.”
