Arts and Crafts Come to Ceramica Tile + Design in Adelaide

The Artisan range takes the designs and motifs of the Arts and Crafts Movement as its starting point, introducing a contemporary look to the patterns and images that influenced the founders of the school in the 1880s. Arts and Crafts designers drew their inspiration from Medieval decoration, with stylised flowers, Celtic motifs and repeating geometric patterns to the fore. They were also drawn to Japanese and Islamic art, and this can be seen in the palette of colours that make Arts and Crafts design so distinctive, such as cream, terracotta, mustard yellow, olive green, deep blue and crimson.

Featuring fifteen highly distinctive designs, in ten different colourways, the influence of these 19^th-century designers on the Artisan range is clear, with the tiles’ emphasis on geometric designs, intricate floral patterns, bold stripes and heraldic images; however, at the same time these tiles are stunningly contemporary in both their appearance and construction.

Although looking and feeling like cement tiles, they are much lighter and slimmer, being only 7mm in thickness. Ideal for use on walls and floors, the anti-slip porcelain composition means that no sealing is required, and so these tiles are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

The vintage-inspired colours include subtle greys and creams, as well as vibrant blues and deep reds, meaning that they enhance almost any type of design concept. Additionally, homeowners can create their own designs or order a customised blend.

Artisan tiles are 200mm x 200mm in size (25 tiles per metre²) and come in a matt finish with a rectified edge. They have a R10 slip rating and <3% porosity.
