Produced using innovative new technology and processes developed by Abbey and Pride, the Ciment range features three collections—Natural Cement, Basalt and White—and are truly unique, marking a departure from the energy-intensive methods previously used to produce cement tiles.

“Ciment tiles and slabs are extremely durable,” said Anita Sweeting, Design Consultant at Ceramica Tile + Design, “and so they are especially effective in areas of your home or office that get a lot of traffic. They work equally well on walls and floors, although we’ve also installed them as splashbacks, on benchtops, and they are also great for fireplace surrounds and vanity units.”

Ciment tiles are produced using material that is 100% natural and no resins or plastics are used, making them completely recyclable. Their production also uses less water and energy than other methods, and less material and processing are also required. Combined with the fact that they are produced in Australia and therefore have lower transportation costs, it is clear why they are attracting attention as an environmentally sound alternative to traditional cement tiles. 

Anita Sweeting added, “Being made from cement, these tiles are extremely strong and resilient, and have a hardness similar to that of marble and granite. However, they actually continue to harden and improve over time, and so unusually they actually look better the older they get.”

The three collections are available as both slabs and tiles, with the wall and floor tiles coming in six sizes: 600mm x 300mm, 900mm x 300mm, 1200mm x 300mm, 400mm x 400mm, 800mm x 400mm, 600mm x 600mm. Three thicknesses are also available: 6mm, 10mm and 15mm.
