Those interested should bring their cameras and be sure to get a photo of their family with the Christkindl after the Grand Opening Ceremony. See the Christkindl in person during the official opening ceremony on Saturday, November 23, 2013, which begins at 4:30 p.m. The grand opening includes: · - 4pm-4:30pm – The Edelweiss Club Schuhplattler perform traditional Bavarian-style dancing · - 4:30pm – Opening comments from market’s General Manager, GACC President and the Prolog given by the Christkindl, Ms. Kiel. · - 5pm-7pm – The Denver Philharmonic Orchestra will perform Christmas music in various ensembles · - 7:30pm-9pm – Alpen Rose band plays German music until 9pm to close. This year’s market again brings the sights, sounds and flavors of the holiday season with a German flair to the 16th Street Mall. This festive German Christmas market continues through December 21 and takes place in Denver's Skyline Park on the 16th Street Mall with its busy pedestrian traffic and easy access by light rail, Mall Shuttle Bus, RTD or automobile; the Southwest Skating Rink is located just across the 16th Street Mall from the market. The market’s normal hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday, with extended hours for the Parade of Lights on November 30 and December 1. On Thanksgiving Day the market will close at 4pm.
