Follow on Google News | 9th Annual Groton Community Home Tour Shines Spotlight On Diversity Of Local Architecture And DesignThis annual fundraising event for Groton Community School, now in its ninth year, invites attendees into some of the most distinctive private homes in the area. The 2013 tour offers attendees much to see, from historical architecture to eco-friendly design and will feature a unique array of residences, including: · A New England classic revival home this is filled with history · A colonial home that recently underwent a large scale remodel and redecoration · A contemporary passive solar home designed to rely on nature for heating and cooling · A stunning custom built home with lake frontage and upgrades throughout · A contemporary solar-powered home with extraordinary views Doors will open at the school for vendor shopping and program guide pick-up at 9 a.m., where attendees can enjoy complimentary coffee and donuts from Dunkin Donuts and The Catalano Companies. Shop offerings from more than twenty local artisans and merchants that will be showcased at each home and at the school. The GCS Bake Shop, located at the school, will be stocked with an abundance of homemade treats to enjoy over the holidays. Also at the school will be a wide variety of Chance Table items and baskets, including restaurant certificates, spa services, movie passes, retail gift certificates, gourmet food baskets and many other gifts and services generously donated by local businesses, artisans, friends, and families of the school. Chance Table tickets for the more than 75 items will be available one week prior to the event at Groton Community School. Tickets will also be available for purchase on the day of the tour (without a boxed lunch) for $30 by cash or check at Groton Community School.
