About Unchained NY: Our community outreach program is an intensive, hands-on program, working primarily within low-income communities across Long Island, NY. Our community outreach works with pet owners to provide non-judgmental assistance in the forms of education, food and supplies to improve the lives of outdoor chained and/or neglected dogs. By working hand and hand with pet owners we strive to bring positive, lasting change in the lives of families and their dogs. Unchained New York strongly advocates the spaying and neutering of companion animals. Through our spay and neuter initiative we work to educate the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets and help to breakdown the misconceptions and fears that pet owners may have while bringing awareness to crisis of the overpopulation of pets. Furthermore, we work directly with low income families through our community outreach who may lack access to medical care and assist them with the spaying and neutering of their dogs. The initiative in turn, decreases the overpopulation of dogs throughout Long Island. We rescue and rehome dogs from the community outreach program and the various communities we service. Additionally, we work with local shelters throughout Long Island, and the five boroughs to rehome dogs to help prevent further overcrowding or euthanasia. End
