GreerWalker's Barbee to Present at Bankruptcy Institute

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Nov. 21, 2013 - PRLog -- (Charlotte, N.C.) – William A. (Andy) Barbee, director of litigation & forensic services for GreerWalker LLP in Charlotte, will be among 25 speakers participating in the 36^th annual Bankruptcy Institute. The Institute is being offered by the NC Bar Association Bankruptcy Section on Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside in Wilmington.

Barbee will speak Saturday afternoon on ‘Accounting and Forensic Accounting for Bankruptcy Lawyers’ with Margaret R. Westbrook of K&L Gates LLP in Raleigh. Topics covered will include how to read basic financial documents, what to ask for in discovery requests, what to look for in documents to uncover fraudulent conveyances, and when it is necessary to hire an accountant.

Barbee has spent more than two decades in litigation, business valuation, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, bankruptcy and restructuring.  He has a wide array of experience working with counsel and has prepared expert reports on a wide range of issues, including damage calculations, business valuation, shareholder disputes, solvency analysis, fraud investigations, preferential/fraudulent conveyances and viability analysis.

He has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University and a master's of Accounting from Florida International University.

The session qualifies for NC State Bar Bankruptcy Specialization Credit. Those attending both days will earn 10 CLE Credit Hours, including 1 Substance Abuse/Mental Health Credit.  Attorneys may also attend via video replays being offered January 13 in Asheville; January 29-30 in Cary; February 6-7, 2014 in Charlotte, and February 10-11 in Greensboro.
