WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Nov. 24, 2013 - PRLog -- Since 2006 approximately 45 children of Comunión H in Limón, Honduras, have been living in 3 bedrooms of an abandoned hotel.   The living conditions for these children have been unacceptable with only three partially functioning bathrooms, leaking roofs, window panes missing, mold and mildew in the building.  Leonarda’s Home of Hope was organized in 2009 to help these and other indigent children in Honduras.  After raising partial funds, construction began on the new orphanage in August of 2010.  On November 20, 2013, the children moved into their new 11,160 square foot home.

Leonarda’s Home of Hope (LHOH), a US tax exempt 501 (c) (3), was formed in 2009 with the objective to help indigent children in Honduras.  LHOH provides the financial support needed for Comunión H, a Honduran NGO which operates the orphanage.  Since 2006, Comunion H has cared for the 38 to 54 children living at the abandoned hotel.  Through the support of LHOH, all children are attending private school. Their new home provides sufficient space for 54 children and 4 adults.  In addition, the property on which the orphanage is constructed includes a two bedroom home and sufficient land for additional facilities.  LHOH is most appreciative of the support provided by private sector companies including Vulcraft Steel, the Jones Blair Paint Company and Living Waters, all of which provided in-kind donations to assist with the construction.     The Dorothea Haus Ross Foundation provided a grant for the purchase of new beds, chests, tables, and chairs.

In addition to supporting Comunión H, LHOH also imports and distributes food supplied by Stop Hunger Now; these packets of rice and nutrients feed malnourished children at 2 clinics, 7 schools, 9 orphanages, 14 day care centers and 52 nurture centers operated by Honduran NGO’s.  These programs provide nourishment for over 7,000 children, many of whom who would otherwise have little to eat.
