Nov. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Unbound Visual Arts, the new non-profit incorporated and based in Allston-Brighton to enliven the creative economy for artists and art supporters, is very pleased and excited to announce the opening of Susan Loomis: An Artist’s Progression  and Amy Kelly: Transitions. Unbound Visual Arts just celebrated its first anniversary. It has completed 25 quality themed-based and curated exhibitions. With a membership of 70, it is the fastest growing non-profit arts organization in Metropolitan Boston.  The Harvard Allston Education Portal (Ed Portal) is a collaborative partnership between Harvard University, the City of Boston, the Harvard Allsto Task Force, and the Allston-Brighton community. It serves children with mentoring opportunities by Harvard undergraduates and training and enrichment activities aor families and adults.

The Susan Loomis exhibition features a wide spectrum of paintings and drawings by artist Susan Loomis from childhood to adult. They culminate into a series of ink drawings called Inkies that detail shapes and lines representing a churning and active composition.  The exhibition of 2-dimentional artwork includes acrylic, charcoal, pen, oil, and watercolor media as well as a variety of surfaces.  This is her first one-person exhibition.

The Amy Kelly exhibition, curated by John Quatrale, is an exhibition of mostly oil paintings that attempt to “capture the moment between life and the transition” to it’s next stage.  Through her figurative drawings and abstract recreations, Amy incorporates materials that portray the elegance of the decomposition process sometimes related to death and decay.  She is attempting “to create an existential snapshot of the lesser traveled paths of the human psyche.”  In the end she is seeking to get as close to non-existence as possible in order to “celebrate the beauty of the imperfect.”  Through her flowing  color and black and white artwork, Amy creates an imminent sense of explosive evolutionary energy in many forms.  The artwork with a mixture of both partial and clear representational forms create a powerful juxtapositional effect of life and death that she strives for. This is her first one-person exhibition.

A public reception for both exhibitions with the artists is Saturday December 7 from 3:00-4:30 pm. The exhibitions runs from December 4, 2013 through February 21, 2014 and are open Monday - Thursday from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm as well occasional Fridays and weekends, which may be obtained by contacting Unbound Visual Arts or checking the website. Harvard Allston Education Portal, 175 North Harvard St., Allston, MA 02134 (Barry’s Corner). MBTA Buses: 66, 70, 70A, 86.
