WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - Nov. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Only one percent of U.S. patents are awarded to students 18 years or under and OCS student Jackson Fine has found himself among this select group of young inventors.  With five years of dedication and the support of his parents and the faculty and staff at Oaks Christian School, Fine created what has become dubbed the “Iron Man” patent, a system that allows for easy guidance and manipulation of holographic tools and objects within a 3D sensor grid.  The invention can be used to conduct remote medical procedures, repair equipment on orbiting spacecraft, as well as enhance gaming and next generation computing.  “Owning the patent will allow me to control its usage and application to enhance the quality of human lives,” said Fine when he received his patent last week.  His invention has received interest from major handset technology companies.  Fine has an additional patent pending, which he will continue to develop through an OCS Advanced Technology Independent Study Program.

Fine draws his inspiration from many sources, but remembers his maternal grandfather in a special way.  He had lost an arm as a teenager working at a lumber camp, but despite this adversity, he taught himself engineering and built and maintained dozens of radio stations that he operated with one hand.  Like his grandfather, Fine is largely self-taught, but also gives thanks to his OCS teachers and advisors who encouraged him in his technology studies.  “Mr. Jim Altizer, who is my advisor, crafted a platform--along with Mr. Jeff Morrow, Mr. Kenn Gorman, Mr. Matt Northrup, and Mr. Tim Fenderson--as a creative solution that allowed me to still work on my projects within the framework of my Oaks studies,” said Fine.  “They valued what I was doing and wanted me to succeed.”

In addition to his technology pursuits, Jackson Fine is also a key contributor on the OCS Varsity Baseball team and last season he received Perfect Game’s USA All-American Honorable Mention team selection and was recently named an Under Armour 2014 Pre-Season All-American.  Fine plans to finish his senior year at Oaks Christian School with success on the baseball field and in technology.  Fine has garnered the attention of several universities and is looking forward to playing college baseball, while pursuing a degree in business and entrepreneurship.
