Follow on Google News | BioAsia and CCMB join hands to promote Innovation among the youngBioAsia, Asia’s biggest technology and bio-business platform, has opened the nomination process for its annual awards, BioAsia Innovation Award 2014 and BioAsia Young Minds Award 2014.
The entry for BioAsia Innovation Award 2014 is open to all scientists, students and individuals from member countries of FABA who are interested or are pursuing research in the areas of biotechnology, lifesciences or have created a product or process of utility for the welfare of society from any areas of basic or applied sciences. Ten among the best proposals received would be invited to demonstrate their innovations at the BioAsia 2014 conference venue and the best among them would be awarded the BioAsia Innovation Award together with a cashprize of Rs. 1,00,000. The award was instituted in the year 2007 and has been successfully organized annual as a part of the event BioAsia. Over 1000 proposals have been received over the years and 11 proposals have been bestowed with the BioAsia Innovation Award for Young Scientists. Students of 10th, 11th, & 12th classes who have created a product or process of value are eligible to nominate their names for BioAsia Young Minds Award 2014. Top five innovators will be invited to demonstrate their innovations at the BioAsia 2014 conference venue and the best among them will be awarded the BioAsia Young Minds Award and a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 “FABA and BioAsia are committed to promoting market based research and entrepreneurship among scientific community. The BioAsia awards have been offering a platform for young innovators to meet and discuss with the companies and investors for transfer / commercialization of their invention, while helping build linkages with institutions and for upgradation of knowledge. Awards at BioAsia have been extremely successful in identifying and recognizing young talents, and we are very happy to continue our partnership with BioAsia, which has emerged as one of the leading conventions for showcasing Biotechnology in Asia, stated Dr. N Madhusudhana Rao, Chief Scientist, CCMB. The entries for both categories will undergo a shortlisting process and the shortlisted proposals will be announced by the end of December for exhibiting their presentation at the BioAsia venue. Some of the factors that are used to evaluate the award include science, innovation, market demand, patentability, cost economics, etc. Winner in each category will be selected by an expert team and the awards will be given away during the Valedictory Ceremony of BioAsia 2014. Rules for Entry · BioAsia Innovation Award: Only participants below the age of 35 years as on 31st Dec, 2013 is considered eligible for this award. · BioAsia Young Minds Award: Only students of class 10th, 11th & 12th can participate. · All research work submitted must be the original work of the participant. · Each participant should send an Undertaking to effect that the research work sent to the competition is his/her original. The organizers have the right to cancel the award/awards, if found otherwise. · The organizers of BioAsia reserve the right to use the accepted entries for publications/ · The last date for the receipt of the entries is January 10th, 2014.
