Never lose anything ever again?

Tokyo based Bluetooth developer, Akio System has released a device that helps people find lost objects. Akio Dots are penny-sized Bluetooth tags that can be stuck onto often-lost objects. When an object needs to be found, the tag produces a sound, alerting the user to its location. The price of this Bluetooth tag - $10.

“Other products of this kind require the user download a specific smartphone app” says Akio creator, Eddie Palmer “But many people complain their Smartphone needs to be very close to the device before it will work, which means the user basically has to walk around their house with their phone in hand waiting for the system to come online – not much better than actually just looking for your lost item yourself!” Akio works with a control panel, which is a custom designed transmitter that has a range of 300 feet  - triple the range of the smartphone. The price of the control panel – also $10.

“Most products typically cost around $25 for one Bluetooth tag” says Palmer. “Spending $25 on tracking an object is too much for many consumers – myself included - and obviously a system that fails to work sometimes is clearly unacceptable. By simplifying Akio’s operation we have managed to halve the price while also tripling the effective range, as well as doubling the battery life to over 2 years.”

With the price down and the performance improved, Palmer believes these devices are set to become part of everyone’s lives. “Everyone loses things. It is a part of life we used to just accept - but it does not need to happen any more. Avoiding this problem is now very cheap, and as easy as pressing a button.”

Akio is being launched through the international Crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo. “We decided to partner with Indiegogo because  we can streamline marketing, promotion and sales into one operation, which again helps us further reduce the price to the consumer. Early bird crowdfunding customers can get Akio for $4 per Akio Dot Bluetooth tag. Four dollars and you will never need to search for your keys again!”
