Agnew Not To Run For Massachusetts Lt. Governor In 2014

WESTWOOD, Mass. - Dec. 9, 2013 - PRLog -- After establishing an informal committee of high-ranking Republicans and Democrats in the summer of 2013, Greg Agnew, 26, of Westwood, has decided not to run for the Commonwealth’s second highest elected leadership position.

The conservative leaning registered Independent had long thought this would be the year to run, however, his recent hiring as Executive Director for Westwood Community Access TV, Inc. has shifted Agnew’s priorities back to his hometown.

“It’s been a dream of mine to build a local television network in my hometown, and when I received the word that I would become Executive Director of WestCAT, I jumped into the job and never looked back.”

The Commonwealth’s second-in-command position has been vacant since the departure of Timothy Murray, who is now leading the Worcester Chamber of Commerce in the private sector. Some political pundits have labeled the position of Lt. Governor as a useless position, however, Agnew outright denies that statement.

“I was planning on re-inventing the position, drawing more attention to it, and using it to make a plethora of changes to save our Commonwealth some much needed dollars.” Agnew then added that he’s not too impressed with the pool of both Republican and Democratic candidates that have stepped up to the plate and announced their candidacy.

“What the voters have been provided with is embarrassing. Charlie Baker is the only sustainable difference-maker in the race. The potential Democratic nominees are career politicians and liberal organizers hoping to carry the disappointing legacy of Deval Patrick into the next 4 years. We need a drastic change.”

According to Agnew, he plans on tabling all political activity until further notice, but will always keep an active eye and ear open to the political climate in Massachusetts. “It’s disappointing that the we won’t have much variety as of now when voters go to the polls in November of 2014. We obviously have to make some major changes in order to keep our Commonwealth afloat. I hope more people are motivated to run in the next few weeks.”

As for once being the youngest to pursue a statewide elected office, Agnew had no fear that would be a burden. “We need more young conservative-minded people in higher positions in the State. What we have now is a turn style of the same. It’s time we started thinking differently if we want a better future for my generation.”
