comma Ltd. launches comma LABS

CAUSEWAY BAY, Hong Kong - Dec. 12, 2013 - PRLog -- comma Ltd. has announced the creation of a new operational branch called comma LABS. This new branch develops hardware and software solutions designed to work seamlessly with comma CMMS to add new advanced functionality.

“We are moving in the direction of making our CMMS a fully automated system with true predictive maintenance tools. Out first LAB projects, the comma CMMS API and the sensorNET network are designed to alert users directly in case of about-to-fail equipment. This allows users to take action before costly problems happen while all the CMMS records are automatically prepared”, said Rui Alves, CEO of comma Ltd. during the unveiling ceremony of comma LABS in Hong Kong.

The sensorNET project main product is a controller board, based on readily available open source hardware, that collects field information like temperatures and pressures and reports that data to comma CMMS servers. Depending on preset rules for the collected data, work orders and email warnings are issued whenever the parameters are out of acceptable ranges.

The comma CMMS API defines a protocol that allows clients to use their own equipment to report directly to comma CMMS and issue warnings and work orders as soon as the problem happens.

“We see integration with existing SCADA and DCS systems that can directly report system status to the maintenance management system without the need for human intervention, saving precious time and money”, said Rui Alves.

The API service and sensorNET hardware are already available for selected comma CMMS customers and are expected to be fully operational and available to all users by mid January, 2014.
