A Christmas to Remember for Senior Citizens at Novotel Century Hong Kong

WAN CHAI, Hong Kong - Dec. 16, 2013 - PRLog -- There were 150 senior citizens invited.  They are the needy elders supported by St. James’ Settlement’s charity projects respectively. The low-income elderly are living alone in poverty with limited resources.  Many of them haven’t had a chance to enjoy a Christmas buffet before.

The Christmas party was held from noon to 2pm and in the function rooms of Novotel Century Hong Kong. The party was the prefect escape combining lunch buffet with games, activities and relaxation for the elders. They were treated with traditional Christmas buffet such as Turkey, Christmas pudding and so on. Besides, the Hotel had specially created a menu on Chinese cuisine made of vegetables and healthy ingredients. Senior management and department heads of the Hotel served the elders and organize the games. Besides, every senior citizen received a Christmas gift containing a rice pack (1 kg) and party favours.

Among the elderly, Mr Lee Sai Hung (101 years old) is the oldest male and Ms Tang Sim Yiu (96 years old) is the oldest female. Both of them received a special Christmas gift from Novotel Century Hong Kong.

Commenting on the objective of hosting this party, Jerome Stubert, General Manager of Novotel Century Hong Kong said, “This is already the eleventh year we host this charity party and we celebrate the Hotel’s 22^th year anniversary in the same month. It is very meaningful for us to continue the effort of serving the community in this way.”

“We always believe that we have our role and responsibility in supporting the community. It is hoped that the party will provide this frequently excluded group of society fun and good memories. We realize that the elders have other needs beyond financial support.  This is why we have decided to organize this party every year.  We do hope that this little effort will help make their Christmas a memorable one this year.”

Novotel Century Hong Kong is committed to serve the community.  The party is one of the charity actions followed by Chi Heng Foundation shopping bag charity sale, blood donation to Red Cross earlier this year.
