Ford to Hire 11,000 People and Introduce 23 New Vehicles in 2014

BURNS HARBOR, Ind. - Dec. 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Lake Shore Ford is excited to announce that 2014 is looking to be a big year for Ford. The North American automaker has adopted an aggressive new strategy to introduce a total of 23 new Ford cars globally. To do so, the automaker will hire 11,000 people in total, which is the most Ford has hired in one year since 2000.

The president of Ford here in North American, Joe Hinrichs, recently detailed part of Ford’s strategy. He says that next year in 2014 will be the biggest for Ford’s product line in their entire history, which spans an incredible 111 years.

To start with, Ford plans on introducing a total of 23 models across the globe in 2014. 16 of those models should be available at Lake Shore Ford and in the rest of the United States. A few of the models have already been announced like the Lincoln MKC and the Ford Transit and Transit Connect cargo vans. Perhaps most exciting for drivers is the announcement of the 2015 Ford Mustang, which will celebrate the 50^th anniversary for the muscle car.

In order to build all of these cars, Ford is planning a massive hiring spree. Here in the United States, the automaker will need to hire about 5000 people. Over in Asia, they plan to hire around 6000 more people. Most of these individuals will be for two plants that are about to start producing over in China.

In addition to the 2014 plans, Hinrichs also said Ford has been experimenting with driverless car equipment. Working with the University of Michigan, Ford has developed a version of the Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan. The Fusion has four sensors on it that are able to track light allowing them to keep track of movements by creating 3D maps.
