BioVision Introduces Two New Assay Kits: PDH Activity Assay Kit & Alpha-KGDH Activity Assay Kit

BioVision is delighted to introduce two new assay kits: Pyruvate Dehydrogenase (PDH) Activity Assay Kit and Alpha-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase (α-KGDH) Activity Assay Kit. These kits are the Simplest PDH & α-KGDH Activity Assay Kits on the market!!

Alpha-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit
MILPITAS, Calif. - Dec. 30, 2013 - PRLog -- Alpha-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit (Catalog # K678-100) - 100 assays: α-Ketoglutarate Dehydrogenase (α-KGDH) is a key enzyme in the citric acid cycle. In humans, decreased KGDH activity can lead to neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. Recent studies show that α-KGDH is a target of oxidative stress; reactive oxygen species (ROS) inhibit KGDH activity which diminishes its critical function and can cause a bioenergetic deficit. In BioVision’s α-KGDH Activity Assay Kit, α-KGDH converts α-ketoglutarate into an intermediate, which reduces the probe to a colored product with strong absorbance at 450 nm.

Key Features and Benefits of the Kit:
- Simple, Convenient & rapid
- Compatible with animal tissues (such as liver, heart, muscle etc.), both  adherent & suspension cells as well as purified mitochondria
- Colorimetric quantification (OD 450 nm)
- Detects α-KGDH activity lower than 0.1 mU in a variety of samples
- Useful for measuring α-KGDH activity in various tissues/cells & analysis cell signaling pathways such as citrate acid cycle, lysine degradation or tryptophan metabolism
- Provides ample reagents to perform 100 assays in a 96-well plate format

Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Activity Colorimetric Assay Kit (Catalog # K679-100) 100 assays: Pyruvate Dehydrogenase (PDH) (EC 1.2.4.1) has a vital role in carbohydrate metabolism. PDH deficiency is X-linked & results in 2 forms of abnormalities: a metabolic form (lactic acidosis) and a neurological form (seizure and/or neuropathological spasm). Recent studies show that PDH is a target of oncogene-induced senescence and its activation enhances pyruvate utilization and increases respiration and redox stress. In BioVision’s PDH assay kit, PDH converts pyruvate into an intermediate, which reduces the developer to a colored product with strong absorbance at 450 nm.

Key Features and Benefits of the kit:
- Simple, rapid & sensitive
- Compatible with animal tissues (such as liver, heart, muscle etc.), both adherent & suspension cells as well as purified mitochondria
- Colorimetric quantification (OD 450 nm)
- Detects PDH activity lower than 0.1 mU in a variety of samples
- Useful for analyzing cell signaling pathway & measuring pyruvate dehydrogenase activity in various tissues/cells
- Provides ample reagents to perform 100 assays in a 96-well plate format
