Nikki Young and The Rose Theatre Company Make "Movie Magic" Again

The Rose Theatre Company and award-winning actress Nikki Young proudly announce the return of one of their popular programs for young actors.

"Movie Magic," a six-week course for actors age 7-17, will take place at the theatre company from January 21 to February 25. Taught by Young, the class will cover the basics of TV, film, and commercial acting as well as filmmaking and film analysis, including:

* The History of the Craft and Industry Terms
* Cold Reading Skills and Script Memorization Techniques
* Slating, Interviewing, and Auditioning
* How to Analyze A Character
* On-Camera Performance and Analysis
* And more…

“We first introduced 'Movie Magic' as a summer camp in 2012,” explains Jessie Rose, Owner of The Rose Theatre Company, “and it was a big hit with the kids and their parents. So we’re excited to be working with Nikki to bring it back as a weekly class.”

For Young – who also teaches Theatre to special-needs students at Monarch Academy, and promotes literacy to kids across San Antonio as “Miss Nikki, The Literature Lady” – the class is a great opportunity. “My heart has always been with teaching kids,” she says, “and I’ve really enjoyed working with Jessie and the kids at The Rose Theatre Company. So I’m looking forward to meeting a new group of students, and introducing them to 'Movie Magic!'”
